CONTINUUM CLASSES
with Robert Litman, Continuum Anatomy Teacher
FALL/WINTER 2008 – TUCSON, ARIZONA
WEDNESDAY MORNINGS – 7:15 – 9:30

Continuum Movement’s explorations invite us into an inquiry to differentiate and sense the many complex layers of our biology, focusing on the myriad fluid relationships inside the container of skin, muscles, bones, joints and breath. We seek to engage in a daily practice of pleasurable movement, which we have found to raise our expression of health and vitality to a higher octave.

Moving into deep inner space, we find the distinction between “outer” and “inner” blurred, which gives rise to a profound sense of expansiveness, belonging and connection. (see more info)

We will be tuning into a Oneness that is at the ground of Beingness, beyond all duality, underneath all manifestation, and allowing this Awareness to permeate and inform our daily lives.

In the Realm of Silent Wisdom:
Continuum Movement© and Body-Mind Centering©
With Vicky Topp & Gael Ohlrgen
August 31-September 4, 2008 at Esalen
(see flyer)

This workshop will pose experimental, somatic questions: How do we access kinesthetic intelligence? How can we change the context of interaction with self and environment in a way that excites, refreshes, and renews? How do we create space for ourselves and spaciousness in our perspectives?

The program will begin with a kinesthetic remembrance of our embryonic and oceanic origins when our tissues were shaped by fluid. Using movement, breath, and sound explorations, the workshop will seek to awaken access to our body's wisdom and to replenish our sense of well-being and belonging.

Participants will explore the integration of these more internal states through healing touch, walking, and somatic resonance with each another. This will be facilitated by brief lectures, demonstrations, movement explorations, experiential anatomy, and handson practice. This workshop is for all those interested in blending BMC and Continuum approaches into their bodywork, dance, yoga, meditation, psychophysical practices, and life.

All levels of experience are welcome. CE credit available

THE BREADTH OF BREATH with Emilie Conrad & Robert Litman
September 26 Ð 28, 2008 Ð Berkeley, California

From distant spiraling galaxies, through our multi-layered organism to the central core of our DNA, our breath carries messages to and from the universe. We are both receiver and messenger as our exhale transmits the tone of our internal landscape. In a society fraught with stress and anxiety, our most useful contribution is an exhale sending signals into the world that peace and possibility still exist. We can learn to transform and recycle negativity and enhance the message of greater good. Movement potential whether in breath or tissue brings us to the very core of life giving nutrients that give us the ability to restore health and well-being in our daily cycles of life.

Continuum, Theory and Practice
A Reawakening of Resonance for Self Renewal

with Rebecca Lawson

Aug 22nd and 23st 2008

In this workshop we will consider an alternative view of the body, one in which the body becomes the fuel for its own transcendence. Using sounds, dexterity of breath, and micro-movements, we shall enter a deep silent listening that takes us outside/inside ourselves to an awareness that could be called freedom.

Via the body and its fluid intelligence, we shall be introduced to our essence which is non-personal and unitary. Free from assumptions and historical impositions, we become creativity in progress: always new, original, boundless, and unconditionedÉtruly present and alive.

No experience necessary. Just come with a curiosity about a practice that increases vitality and creates ease of movement through a resonance with our bio-intelligence. For beginners, or for those who would like to have a deeper immersion with Continuum.

Friday, 5:30 PM Ð 9 PM Saturday, 10:30 AM Ð 5:00 PM

Cost: $150.

Women, Eros and Pleasure:
Redefining Feminine Sexuality through the Art and Practice of Continuum
with Sabine Mead

September 12Ð14 and October 3-5
(See Flyer for further description)

At the core of a womanÕs spiritual nature is the deep well of Eros. This aspect of our essential nature is one of the least understood and most feared in our modern culture, and has forged an enormous schism in our psyche and being. Eros is the primary healer inherent in our biosystem or what we call a body; it is the necessary ingredient that exhilarates self, enlivens our tissues, restores our vitality, and nourishes our passion, all of which are paramount to our health as women.

This workshop is an in-depth inquiry into our erotic nature, parsing out and broadening our concepts of sexuality and sensuality. Moving beyond preconceived ideas and superficial notions of sexuality, we allow ourselves to discover the universal tides of Eros.

Continuum Movement: Exploring the Fluid World within Us
with Patty Adamik

Shift your awareness and deepen your understanding of the body during this two session class.

For over forty years, Continuum Movement has re-visioned the body as an ongoing, ever-changing process rather than as a fixed structure.

The fluid elements of our anatomy - our blood, lymph, and cerebrospinal fluids -- are key aspects of our health and adaptability.

Through the use of breath, sound and intention, we invoke the flowing forms found in nature and attend to the subtle rhythms of our inner being, developing our ability to move with more fluid ease and engage our world with renewed openness and clarity.

Wednesday and Thursday, 1-4 pm Sept 24 and 25;

Nov 12 and 13

Each 3 hour session: $30 ($25 Jung Center members)

The second day of each two part session is an opportunity to work more deeply with the material presented. Students must attend the first class to attend the second in each two day sequence.

October 24-28 in Reston, VA (see flyer)

In their twelfth year of cutting edge collaboration, join Emilie and Suzanne as they combine Continuum and CranioSacral touch to create whole new realms of healing.

Emilie will present breath and intrinsic movement sequences. Suzanne will present the anatomy, inner guided explorations and hands-on protocols. The combination of the internally inspired Continuum movement and the non-invasive healing touch of CranioSacral therapy creates a powerful synergy.

This course is designed for health care practitioners of all levels as well as anyone wanting to learn more about using Continuum in a healing way. The only prerequisite is tht you know how to touch non-invasively.

We are offering an experience of the human body as an elegant composite of interpenetrating signals that orchestrates a vast and potent resonant network from cosmos to the primordial deep to our cellular matrix. This knowledge allows us sources of nourishment that have a profound effect on our bodies systems....As our internal sea becomes more viable our mass shifts accordingly. We become buoyant, gravity now an ally rather than a deterrent, our vital energy a surplus rather than a deficit. An abundance of vital energy is now available for the benefit of the organism, for healing, for revitalizing, and a fountain of ongoing health where our tissue remains luxuriant and full. In this there is no stress, no trauma, no fear, only the full bloom of magnificent life.

Filigrees of Movement with Lali Rohonyi

We exist in the context of life in this planet, in accordance with waves and frequencies that flow through the galaxy, and have a lot to learn from the natural structure we know as our body, if we give it a chance to express itself.

Deepening our contact with this intelligence that permeates our wills and thoughts but remains forgotten most of the time gives us new resources to deal with personal issues.

ALL ABOUT MOVEMENT with LINDA RABIN
September 12-14, 2008
Vienna, Austria

Experience the many ways we are movement, from the inner fluctuations of breath and fluid tissues to their outer manifestation as mutable shapes and forms. Join in the playful spirit of the imagination and attend to yourself with receptivity and an open heart. Experiment with movement in gravity and space, while sounding your tissues in the chorus of the larger group body. We will draw from Continuum breaths, sounds and movements that range from micro to larger gestures. In this workshop movement is our teacher, as we savor our aliveness from moment to moment and bathe in the Òinner dance of lifeÓ.

SUMMER WORKSHOP
BREATH and THE FLUID BODY
with LINDA RABIN (see flyer)
August 22-24, 2008
Brussels, Belgium

Continuum brings to light the primacy of the fluid system. On a cellular level we are an expression of undulation and pulsation, a living network of exchanges, communication and transformation. As we dive into this internal milieu we discover a world of new sensations, where we can experience movement as what we are, not only something we do.

Take the time to slow down, drop in and let unfold what emerges. Explore the movement of breath, the resonance of sound and movement within movement.

 ESTONIA

Listening in the stillness between two heartbeats
Continuum workshop with Kylliki Neuman in Tallinn
September 12 and 13, 2008
(see flyer)

The heart has been considered a medium between spirit and matter, a seat of the soul and the source of love and courage. Both poets and spiritual traditions embrace its sacred nature. Unfortunately, in the contemporary western culture our hearts tend to be seen merely as the anatomical pumps. We ignore this part of ourselves and it responds with illness Ð the most deaths in western world are caused by cardiovascular diseases.

In this workshop we tend our hearts. Using Continuum breaths and sounds we explore the space in and around our hearts. We listen to its desires and allow it to speak to us in its own language, paying attention to micromovements, vibrations and different sensations.

Special High-Discount Offer
Two Embryology Books for Students and Practitioners in Medical Fields

Embryogenesis: Species, Gender, and Identity
by Richard Grossinger
Embryogenesis is an unusual book in that it brings together a highly illustrated, practical embryology book in simple language, perfect for health practitioners, with a fascinating read on the history and philosophy of biological science. It discusses the various stages of embryonic development (meiosis, fertilization, blastula development, and gastrulation, and then the embryology of each of the human organs and organ systems in detail). It puts each of them in context, both in terms of its phylogeny: the evolutionary trajectory of cell-organized systems on Earth, and its ontogeny: the formation of individual organisms in the modern world.

There are 24 color plates, many of them commissioned uniquely for this volume, and several hundred black and white illustrations. The book is 950 pages hardcover, 8 ½ by 10.

While Embryogenesis summarizes the traditional materialistic scientific viewpoints about the origin and motifs of life, it also presents life in vitalistic and psychospiritual contexts, drawing on Buddhism, anthroposophy, and indigenous mythologies and cosmologies from across the planet. A chapter on healing explores the embryogenic basis for the effects of homeopathy, acupuncture, manual palpation, etc. Embryogenesis has been used by John Upledger in teaching craniosacral therapy and by Emilie Conrad in teaching Continuum.

Other sections provide discussions of diverse topics such as: the collaboration of microorganisms to invent the milieu of the cell; primatology and the origin of Homo Sapiens; the origin of sexuality and sexual organs; various perspectives on belief systems regarding death, the soul, reincarnation, and karma; possible relationships between spirit and incarnation in the developmental process of creatures; philosophical constructs underlying life and consciousness; the origin of language; the biological history of sexuality; biotechnology; creation myths; chaos theory; etc.

Early chapters through the middle of the book include:
The Original Earth;
The Materials of Life;
The First Beings;
The Cell;
The Genetic Code;
Sperm and Egg;
Fertilization;
The Blastula;
Gastrulation;
Morphogenesis;
Biological Fields;
Chaos, Fractals, and Deep Structure;
Ontogeny and Phylogeny; and Biotechnology.

A middle section includes:
The Origin of the Nervous System;
The Evolution of Intelligence;
Neurulation and the Human Brain;
Organogenesis;
The Musculoskeletal and Hematopoietic Systems;
Mind;
The Origin of Sexuality and Gender.

The final chapters are entitled:

Birth Trauma;
Healing;
Transsexuality, Intersexuality, and the Cultural Basis of Gender;
Self and Desire;
Spiritual Embryogenesis;
Cosmogenesis and Mortality;
Death and Reincarnation.

We are making this $75 book available to health-workers and their associates for 65% discount freight-free ($26.25). This includes only orders within the United States. Orders from outside the United States must be made through our office rather than on the website: aluckett@northatlanticbooks.com (or 510-549-4270 X20), and, unfortunately, freight must be paid on foreign orders.

Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings: How The Universe Makes Life is Richard Grossinger’s sequel to Embryogenesis. It offers two full chapters summarizing and analyzing the work of German outsider embryologist Erich Blechschmidt. Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings is 542 pages long with the Blechschmidt sections illustrated in black and white. Normally $18.95, this book is available with this offer for $6.63 freight free. It can be purchased with Embryogenesis or separately.

Embryos, Galaxies, and Sentient Beings also deals with theoretical issues arising out of Embryogenesis, including: the relationship between thermodynamics/entropy and the emergence of life; a speculative set of embryogenic principles for all creatures on all planets in the cosmos; an explanation and critique of Intelligent Design and a proposal for a more dynamic psychospiritual theory of creature development; a series of alternatives to genetic determinism; a discussion of the relationship between consciousness and matter; an interjection of 9/11 (which occurred during the writing of this book); and many other topics.

Chapters include:
What is Life?: Evolution, Thermodynamics, and Complexity;
Is There a Plan?: Creationism, Cultural Relativism, and Paraphysics; Biogenesis and Cosmogenesis: Cells, Genes, and Planets;
The Principles of Biological Design: Physical Forces in Nature;
The Dynamics of the Biosphere: Deep Time and Space;
The Limits of Genetic Determinism: Dimensionless Epigenetic Landscapes;
Topokinesis: Physical Forces in Development;
Tissue Motifs and Body Plans: Coordinating Form;
The Primordial Field: Metabiology and The Molecular Apparatus; Meaning and Destiny: The Relation of Consciousness to Matter.
