Daphne Georghiou has been a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) for almost 5 years. After practicing as a student for 8 years, Daphne recently became an authorized Continuum Movement Teacher, by Continuum founder and somatic movement pioneer, Emilie Conrad. Daphne continues to study with Emilie Conrad, constantly keeping her work in private practice up to date. As a Halprin practitioner and an associate Tamalpa Institute teacher, Daphne’s work is deeply informed by the legendary Halprin Life-Art Process—a body and movement-based expressive arts therapy.

Daphne also holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute—a Jungian and Depth psychology based school. She is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern.

Daphne Georghiou developed a dynamic system for somatic beauty and holistic health that is geared towards the body's natural ability to flow in motion and creativity: the Expressive Flow Approach (EFA). EFA has its roots in the body of work offered at Tamalpa Institute, and Continuum Movement principles, which Daphne finds to be the most cutting edge somatic movement practice and education available in the west today. Daphne has an extensive background in dance and performance, predominantly movement-based Improvisation Theater, modern-jazz, and all African-based dance—all of which come to play in her work and practice.

As a somatic practitioner, Daphne additionally draws from her training as a Certified Acupressure Massage Therapist, a long-time trained energy/chakra healer, and many forms of yoga, which she has been practicing for over twelve years.

In her workshops and private sessions, Daphne utilizes Jungian alchemical symbolism and imagery to enhance student understanding, experiential process, and creative body reenactments.
