Lucia Miracchi

After many years of committed involvement in modern dance and movement therapy, Iyengar yoga, Wu style tai chi, and Insight meditation, Lucia began studying Continuum in 1981 with Emilie Conrad and Susan Harper. She became an authorized Continuum Movement teacher in 2000. At the same time, her love of massage brought her into deeper realms of bodywork including Trager, Rosalyn Bruyere's healing work, and craniosacral studies both with Hugh Milne and Upledger Institutes.

In 1982 Lucia became one of the founders of Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto. Her strength, sensitivity, and vitality have allowed her to follow and support the organic growth of this company as an innovative process: co-creating a business with heart, integrity, and deep respect for the intelligence of the embodied human experience. Body Therapy Center is a state approved school of bodywork offering over 2000 hours of professional certification training. In l998 she became the sole owner and president of the corporation.

Lucia holds a degree in movement therapy, is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork, is the originator of the modality Conscious Movement, and is a certified yoga instructor with the National Yoga Alliance. She has taught in the master's program at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. Presently she teaches classes in Continuum Movement and bodywork classes for fundamental and advanced students at BTC, where she also maintains an eclectic bodywork practice.

Continuum philosophy and practice have always been at the heart of her teachings. In her work she artfully interweaves touch, breath, and mindfulness, facilitating the movement of her students and clients into deep states of coherent body intelligence.

In December 2006, Lucia became a graduate of Hakomi, Body Oriented Psychotherapy. Lucia has also studied Epistemics and Affect Psychology with Gary David, PhD. She is presently enjoying dancing again with local choreographer, Judith Komoroske, after a hip replacement in 1998.
